Emergencies & Out of Hours Calls
Our Out of Hours service is provided by NHS Gloucestershire via the NHS111 Service.
On weekdays between 6.30pm and 8.00am the following morning, and throughout weekends and bank holidays you should call NHS 111. You will be put through to specially trained NHS staff who will ensure that you receive the appropriate advice and help quickly.
How to access Advice & Healthcare When the Surgery is Closed
On weekdays 6.30pm – 8am and throughout the weekends and Bank Holidays, you can contact the Out of Ours GP service via NHS111 – all you need do is dial 111 and you will automatically be transferred to a call handler.
They will take your details, or details of the patient if you are calling on behalf of somebody else. Please be prepared for this and ensure you have the key details such as name, address, date of birth, and contact telephone numbers to hand.
The call Handler May:
- Arrange for a nurse or Doctor to speak to you. This may be a call back to you within the hour.
- Provide advice on where you should go to access appropriate healthcare. Eg. A&E, GP surgery or a Primary Care Centre based at one of the local hospitals or a Pharmacy.
- Arrange for an ambulance or paramedic to attend within an agreed timeframe – this may be an emergency 999 ambulance if appropriate.
Tewksbury Minor Injuries Unit – To access this service please CALL 0300 4216100 OR 111.
You will then be triaged over the phone first.
Opening hours are:8am to 8PM 7 days a week (subject to change)
Book an Appointment in the Evening or at the Weekend
Working in partnership with GPs across South Worcestershire, we now offer Improved Access telephone appointments at evenings and weekends. These appointments are offered by practices across the county, so you may speak to a GP, nurse or other clinician from a different practice—but we hope this service will allow you to access primary care outside of our regular opening hours.
These appointments are pre-bookable by contacting the surgery during our opening times – when calling please ask for an extended access appointment and our receptionists will help you

SW Healthcare have set up a separate telephone line to enable you to book (or cancel) these appointments when Bredon Hill Surgery is closed.
You can pre-book your appointment by calling our regular appointment line during our opening hours. Alternatively, you can call 01905 969864 to book an appointment from 8am-6:30pm Monday to Friday, and 9am-1pm Saturday and Sunday.
The Reception staff based at the Worcester will have the ability to book you into one of the five hubs, depending on availability and whether it is appropriate.
