Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) Who can get it on the NHS?

We are aware that recent media coverage has reported the availability of Mounjaro through the NHS However, it is essential to understand that access is strictly limited and not available for general or cosmetic weight loss purposes.

Mounjaro is a medication designed for managing type 2 diabetes and is now available on the NHS — but only for patients who meet certain clinical criteria.

You MAY be eligible ONLY if you meet the following criteria:

  • Are over 18.
  • Have a BMI of 40+ or 37.5+ if from a black, Asian or other background.
  • Diagnosed with dour or more weight-related health conditions, such as:
  • Type II Diabetes; high blood pressure (hypertension); heart disease; sleep apnoea, or similar conditions
