Emergencies & Out of Hour Calls
Our Out of Hours service is provided by NHS Gloucestershire via the NHS111 Service.
On weekdays between 6.30 pm and 8.00 am the following morning, and throughout weekends and bank holidays you should call NHS 111. You will be put through to specially trained NHS staff who will ensure that you receive the appropriate advice and help quickly.
How to Access Advice & Healthcare When the Surgery is Closed
CALL 111 – A call handler will take your details, or details of the patient if you are calling on behalf of somebody else. Please be prepared for this and ensure you have the key details such as name, address, date of birth, and contact telephone numbers to hand.
The Call Handler May:
1. Arrange for a nurse or doctor to speak to you. This may be a call back to you within the hour.
2. Provide advice on where you should go to access appropriate healthcare. Eg. A&E, GP surgery, or a Primary Care Centre based at one of the local hospitals or a Pharmacy.
3. Arrange for an ambulance or paramedic to attend within an agreed timeframe – this may be an emergency 999 ambulance if appropriate.

Book an Appointment in the Evening or at the Weekend
We work alongside practices in South Worcestershire to ensure patients can book Improved access (IA) appointments, which are available 7 days a week, evenings, and weekends.
If you book an appointment outside of Bredon Hill Surgery core hours (Monday to Friday 08:00 – 18:30) this may be with a different GP, nurse, or based in a different location or practice than you are used to, and some of these appointments are telephone only.
These appointments are pre-bookable by contacting the surgery during our opening times – when calling please ask for an extended access appointment and our receptionists will help you.

There is a separate telephone line to enable you to book (or cancel) these appointments when Bredon Hill Surgery is closed.
We can now offer you a choice of evening or weekend appointments between the hours of 18:30 – 20:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 – 12:00 Saturday and Sunday.

The Reception staff based at the Worcester will have the ability to book you into one of the five hubs, depending on availability and whether it is appropriate.
